Yahoo in Trouble - Microsoft Bails on Purchase
Microsoft has dropped its flamboyant offer to buy Yahoo because the Yahooligans were greedy and thus the two sides could not agree on an acceptable sale price. Microsoft chief executive Steve Ballmer formally withdrew the offer in a letter to Yahoo chief executive Jerry Yang.
