Sony Pulls Plug on Playstation/ PSOne
The console that brought video-games into the 21st century and rocked the world, the original Playstation has finally bitten the dust. Sony has announced the end of the line for the PSOne (the remodelled Playstation) as the PS3 gets ready for world-wide launch. This announcement doesnt mean gamers should fret too much, Sony are also working on a PS emulator for the PSP. Granted, the small screen on the PSP isnt gonna help when your trying to play 4 players on Demolition Derby, but it’s better than a kick in the ass.
Sony released the PS in Japan in Decemer of 1994. Over 11 years and two more consoles later, the electronics monster has pulled the plug on its first console, ceasing all production of PS units. Last September, Sony announced that the original PlayStation and its PSOne redesign had surpassed the 100 million units sold milestone. Not bad for a company that made TV’s and VCRs and was famously blown off by Nintendo.
Aaaaaah, the classic days of Playstation, we spent many hours on a Saturday and Sunday night trying to set the fastest lap on Ridge Racer and then trying to complete just one more level on Crash Bandicoot.
