Beckham: The $250 Million Problem
The MLS and LA Galaxy are probably pulling their hair out in frustration at the moment. Not only are the Galaxy sitting at the bottom of the MLS standings, with a pathetic 3 wins, but Davy Boy Beckham, aka, Goldenballs is injured yet again. Already suffering with a swollen left ankle, Becks has now messed up his knee. With a million soccer moms all paying big bucks to buy into “package” ticket plans just to get a glimpse of his magical feet (and hopefully inspire little Jonny or Christie to play soccer and not drop the game for Baseball, Basketball or Football (or boys)), the Beckham magic is quickly loosing pace. The fans at the Home Depot center actually booed last night when he was replaced after just 30 mins…. Oh boy, this sounds like the Gazza - Tottenham to Lazio move from 1992… I hope it doesnt all go pear shaped.
That being said, I was pretty pissed that Beckham didnt play for the Galaxy against the Rapids on Sunday, I bought 11 tickets for friends and family, and the Galaxy, already a bad team, fielded a team of reserves (no Donovan or Xavier) and were promptly stuffed 3-0. Pffft.
