Alexa Ranking and Reporting
What is Alexa?
Alexa rankings are 100% dependent on the number of Alexa toolbar users that visit your website. Whilst this means the system can be open to abuse (some sites offer/reward and encourage their users to download the Alexa toolbar knowing it will push their numbers up) it does give a pretty fair indication as to how much reach a website has.
How Alexa ranks websites:
Alexa Ratings are based on a level from 1 to 4 Million. The LOWER your rating on Alexa the better. This means if you have a ranking under 100,000 then you have a pretty good website and should be producing some good traffic. You’ll find the largest sites - Yahoo, Google, Myspace, MSN etc at the lowest number, meaning the largest sites.
