Amazon Plays Catchup to iTunes - Rolls out Warner MP3

Posted by UtahSaint on Thursday December 27 @ 5:30 pm

Warner Bros vs YouTubeAmazon is about 3 years behind apple when it comes to selling online music. In order to catch up (quickly), Amazon is changing the game a little by offering users unrestricted (that means no security stuff) MP3 tunes from Universal, EMI and now Warner Music. Whilst this is great news for Amazon people, I’m not sure it’s enough to make iTune users make the jump. I love iTunes store, podcasts and the look n feel of the software, however, I hate the $9.99 movies, $.99 ringtones for my iPhone and crappy music management across my mostly Windows based network…..

David Beckham adidas tv commercial red card in world cup 98It’s a good job David Beckham holds no grudges. The adidas poster boy is getting ready to wear his 100th cap for England under new manager Fabio Capello, the same manager who dropped him for Real Madrid 12 months ago. After a pretty tough 2007, brand Beckham is now a fully fledged player with the uh, mighty LA Galaxy, training with Arsenal in the UK and hoping to return to the England camp and earn his 100th cap - becoming only the fifth England player to hit the 100 mark.

Commodore is Back. Did They Ever Go Away?

Commodore 64 - C64I’m very happy to report the demise of Commodore has been over exagerated. Renamed Commodore Gaming, they aim to make a big splash at the 2008 CES conference in Vegas. You won’t find any PETs, C64 or Vic20’s… No way jose, this year Jack Tramiels new boys will be showing off the finest in gaming PC systems - they look pretty slick and seem to have the hardware to compete with the big boys.

YouTube Threatens the HBO Pay Per View Model

Ricky Hatton vs Floyd MayweatherDubbed the “fight of the century”, the Floyd Mayweather vs. Ricky Hatton fight no doubt drummed up millions of dollars on HBO and all the other PPV channels around the world. At $49.95 to watch the fight, I skipped it, even though it had my hometown hero The Hitman as the star attraction. Reason why I skipped: YouTube :-) Yet again, YouTube proves it’s almost impossible to police video content from users. A simple search for Mayweather v Hatton followed by sorting by date gives any visitor the chance to watch either the full fight, the last round or just the part where Mayweather is consoling Hatton. I’m pretty sure HBO and the promoters will be all over the videos and demand they are taken down, but at 8am on the day after the fight, I’m pretty sure many boxing fans, who for so long have seen the sport placed in the same conversation as WWE, will be quite happy!

Xmas Wish List: adidas superstar #35: Top Secret

Posted by UtahSaint on Wednesday December 5 @ 2:28 pm

adidas #35 top secret superstar shoesIt’s getting harder and harder to find the anniversary shoes from Adi Dassler. The super-duper top secret model, aka adidas superstar #35 is pretty much impossible to find. No one is selling them, there’s rumors only 35 pairs were made (or 7, or 14 depending on which blogger you believe) so unless Santa’s sack is really full, I guess this image won’t be appearing under my Xmas tree this (or any) year… White on white with white shell toe… Do adidas superstars get any better than this?
