Theme: Is DVD-HD On It’s Last Legs?

Normally I’d applaud when a company lowers the entry point for hardware, but todays news of a drop in price of the Xbox 360 HD-DVD player, and the inclusion of 5 free movies (up from the one, King Kong) from Microsoft smacks of desperation. Not that I think Blu-Ray is going to win the current home video war, I don’t think anyone really cares - this isn’t like 1984 when VCRs were revolutionizing home media consumption, everyone has a DVD player (I think it’s at about 85% saturation point), meaning no one is clamoring for either a DVD-HD or Blu-Ray.
