It’s friday night, time to don Adidas sneakers and semi-flared jeans, push the moppy hair out of your eyes and jump in the car for the weekly pilgramage to the Hacienda, The International, 42nd Street, Sankeys Soap and 5th Avenue to listen to the latest groovy tunes being spun by Dave Haslam and the Ministry of Sound. Ok, so it’s all a bit retro, but a quick look through the interwebs favorite video library YouTube, shows a treasure trove of music to bring back the memories! Plenty of videos to watch after the jump.
Happy Mondays: WFL
James: Sit Down (Live @ GMEX)
Stone Roses Elephant Stone
The Charlatans: The Only One I Know

It’s pretty hard to stay up-to-date with all the latest happenings in the world of Web 2.0. If you’re like me, and like to find out what the hottest trends in eMedia are, check out eMediaWeek - it’s a Digital Publication (that means PDF to old-school media hounds out there) that’s emailed out every week (or two) with the news, details, insider talk and statistics from the interweb. The latest edition covers YouTube, Google, Online Video Trends and the death of CPM advertising for webpublishers.

I’m not a big fan of the Geico caveman commercials, I don’t think the logic is too clever and I guess the joke is lost on a simple emedia dude like me - especially when compared to the Gecko lizard and the Gecko movie star ads. That being said, the funky track playing during the Caveman airport commercial completely kicks ass. I’m sure you’re wondering what it’s called, so I did a little searching and found out - it’s called: Remind Me - by the Norwegian duo Royksopp and you can pick-up the song from iTunes or watch the very cool video here on YouTube.
Also, because I’m nice, here’s the lyrics, so you can sing to your hearts content:
Remind Me - Royksopp - aka the Caveman Geico Commerical Tune
It’s only been a week,
The rush of being home in rapid fading.
Prevailing to recall
What I was missing, all that time in England
Has sent me aimlessly,
On foot or by the help of transportation,
To knock on windows where
A friend no longer live, I had forgotten.
(chorus) (this is the part in the Geico Commerical)
And everywhere I go,
There’s always something to remind me
Of another place and time
Where love that travelled far had found me.
We stayed outside til two,
Waiting for the light to come back,
But hid in talk I knew,
Until you asked what I was thinking.
(chorus)
Brave men tell the truth,
A wise man’s tools are analogies and puzzles,
A woman holds her tongue,
Knowing silence will speak for her.
So now I’ll never know,
As you will only sleep beside me,
And everywhere I go…
(chorus)
(repeat)
It’s only been a week,
(Will remind, will remind, will remind me,)
The rush of being home in rapid fading.
(Will remind, will remind, will remind me,)
Prevailing to recall
(Will remind, will remind, will remind me,)
What I was missing all that time in England
(Will remind, will remind, will remind me.)

YouTube are demonstrating they are here to stay and have signed a deal with English soccer (thats football to me) club Chelsea to show archive footage and club news on the online video-sharing website. This is a first such deal to be done by a Premiership football club. The deal will allow content from the club’s subscription channel, Chelsea TV, to appear in a branded area of the website, www.youtube.com/chelseafc The site will feature daily news updates, archive footage of Chelsea games and other features. No mention of revenue sharing or ads, but my guess is Chelsea, who desire to become the worlds largest soccer-club, are wanting to get their name, brand and image out to the masses.

We’ve just launched the worlds first B2B social boomarking site for Elecronic Engineers over at PlanetEE - part of the new Penton/Prism media company (the one that pays my mortgage). This post is nothing more than a shout out to the site, and knowing I get Googled quite nicely, will serve as a push for the PlanetEE site. Even if you’re not an Electronics Engineer, you should check out the site - It’s still in beta, but if you are a Digger, Slashdotter or *gulp* Netscaper, you’ll quickly get the gist of the site. I’m pretty proud of it!
