Not to be outdone by the truly awful Motorola iTunes phone, Sony has released the latest version of the massively (un)popular W800 Walkman phone, aptly named the W900.

Disc2Phone, a PC software that comes with the W900, allows users to transfer music from audio CDs to the phone, which has 470MB of user-accessible memory. While this is quite insufficient for a music phone, you have the option to go for Memory Stick PRO Duo in capacities up to 2 GB - giving a total of almost 1,000 songs. Supported formats include MP3, AAC, AAC+, XMF and goold old MIDI and WAV.

The W900 allows OTA music downloads from the operator, so you can easily download songs on the move, as well as transfer songs from your PC.

With UMTS, you not only get complete internet access (in areas covered), you also have the option to access high-quality audio and video, with the W900 slated to deliver 30 fps video recording and playback capabilities. Add to it a 2 megapixel camera with autofocus and 8x digital zoom and a 2.2″ 262K color QVGA (240×320 pixel) TFT display and you have a superb combination of features.

Looks good, but the Nokia N-90 looks better… Well the 4Gig hard-drive sounds kick-ass to me.

What’s with the Rams and away games this year? No sooner do we look like we may have a half-decent season and at least challenge for the MWC crown, than we go and wave the white flags against the hapless Cougars. BYU are not a good team, and losing to them 24-14 is not acceptable. Having watched the game though, I think the 10 point win wasn’t a true reflection of the game, they were winning 17-0 for quite a while, but a stirring 3rd Qtr comeback brought to within 3… Then a nice long drive by the Cougars pretty much ended the game for Holland & co. Oh well, it’s the Border war up next, I’m sure this will be an exciting battle, the Cowgirls were claiming the MWC title 2 weeks ago, but it’s funny how to straight losses can dent that hope… Lets hope we make it 3 for them.

So, England qualified for the world cup in 2006 amidst bedlam, hoopla, shenanigans and all kind of happy hijinx. Well, thats not quite true, the nation kind of yawned as England bitch slapped each other (rooney and beckham) into the finals with quite a few piss-poor performances.

All that will change come next spring, after the country pulls itself out of another weary, dreary winter and starts singing the classics World in Motion, 3 Lions or maybe Black Grapes England’s Irie tunes… I’m whistling already… Maybe this year, with no Keegan, Hoddle or Taylor, maybe this time, more than any other time… We’ll find a way… Man, I’m so old-skool I scare myself.

Steve Jobs stood on stage today and confirmed the worst kept secret - iPod Video is on the way… Damn, my iPod nano is sooo yesterday. The company also rolled out a new iMac and a new version of iTunes, iTunes 6, just five weeks after the debut of iTunes 5. The iPod has “been a huge hit for is so it’s time to replace it,” Apple CEO Steve Jobs said as he showed off the new product at a press event in San Jose, Calif. “Yes it does video,” he said. The music player will come in a 20GB model for $299 and a 60GB for $399. Those are the same prices as current models with the same capacities.

Jobs kicked off the event by revealing a new iMac that will be similar to the current model, but thinner. It will have a built-in iSight camera with still and video capabilities and a remote control with a 10-foot range for music, photos and video.

At the gathering, Jobs used the tiny white remote control like an oversized iPod Shuffle to play a Black Eyed Peas video and an “Incredibles” DVD and also to play home movies and photos.

Through the new version of iTunes, consumers will be able to buy TV shows, in addition to music. Shows available for purchase one day after broadcast will include “Lost,” “Desperate Housewives” and “That’s So Raven.”
