It looks like Kappa, one of the largest icons of the 80’s is making a roaring comeback this year. Every where I look, I see the silhoutte of the naked girl and guy, back to back (reminds me of the Relax! 12″ single from Frankie Goes to Hollywood) on jerseys, hoodies and sports tops. I’m joining in on the craze, spending silly amounts of money on Kappa gear, but I think it’s ok, since I was old enough, but not rich enough to don Kappa shirts back in ‘84. On that note, enjoy the attached Kappa background images for your computer.

I’ve finally found what I’ve been looking for… The holy grail of sneakers. The Adidas Ian Brown trainer (sneaker on this side of the pond) is the ultimate in footwear for anyone looking to attain retro-looks. The Ian Brown shoe has an interesting story - in 2005, Adidas invited Ian to design a pair of trainers to celebrate the 35th Anniversary of their Superstar shoes. The influence of Ian’s Manchester background was there for everybody to see - with a special wax coated leather that was designed to repel the Manchester rain and designed in the red and black of “Manchester United’s red army, the greatest most-travelled fans in the world”. There was some wonderful Ian Brown signatures, including gold tipped laces with the ‘IB’ logo imprinted on and a large distinctive gold ‘IB’ tag on the front.
The eye from the ‘Music Of The Spheres’ album cover was imprinted on the outside of the heel whilst on the back of the left heel, was the signature ‘Ian’ and, on the right heel, ‘Brown’ both written in red. The yellow inner soles also featured the lyrics to ‘Longsight M13′ and ‘One Way Ticket To Paradise’.
Released in only a select handful of Adidas stores worldwide, and limited to just 5,000, the trainers sold out instantly and have become one of the most collectable pairs of shoes ever made.
Of course, if Ian Brown and the Stone Roses are not your cup of tea, perhaps the RUN DMC limited editions tickle your fancy…

The first Adidas trainers were hand produced by Adolf (Adi) and Rudolph Dassler in 1920 under the Dassler name at home on the kitchen table. In 1928 the trainers appeared in the Olympic Games in Amsterdam. By 1956, at the Melbourne Olympics, the Adidas brand was being promoted. This was the first sports sponsorship. By 1961 Adidas had branched out from trainers into footballs and clothing. At the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, 80% of all athletes sported footwear with the familiar Adidas 3 stripes.
The Adidas trefoil logo was introduced in 1972. This represents the continental plates coming together in the spirit of the Olympics. In the same year, the German national football team won the European Championships wearing Adidas boots. In 1974, the German football team win the World Cup and 80% of all tournament players wore Adidas boots. In 1976, 83% of athletes at the Montreal Olympics wore Adidas.
The new three strip Adidas Equipment logo was introduced in 1996.

The draw for the World Cup has been made and the big news is that England will kick off against Paraguy on June 10th, face Trinidad in Nuremberg on the 15th before playing Sweden on June 20th. England’s Boss Sven-Goran Eriksson faces another meeting with fellow countrymen Sweden, who England have not beaten in 37 years, after the draw in Leipzig.
Elsewhere, the Argies will face Holland while newcomers Oz have been drawn with Brazil - nice!

UNM was always going to be a tough game for the rams, but no-one could’ve predicted this game. After a forgettable first half performance, where DonTrell Moore carried for over a million yards, the Rams came out in the 3rd and proceeded to show the New Mexico Lobo’s why they are in 2nd place and challenging for the MWC title. Trailing 25-12 at halftime, the rams D-# shut down the Lobos’ offense in the second half and converted three New Mexico turnovers into 17 points. Jason Smith, the new kicker, booted three of his four field goals in the second half comeback. CSU’s defense held New Mexico to minus-7 yards in the third quarter and 47 total yards in the second half…
Not bad - end result, CSU 35, UNM 25. Bring on the Frogs for the title!
