3 Telcos in China, Korea, and Japan to Launch Cross-Border Wi-Fi Hotspots Later This Year —

Customers of China Mobile, KT Corp, and NTT Docomo, will soon be able to enjoy cross-border wi-fi hotspots across China, Korea, and Japan.

The three telcos say they’ve agreed to the deal and hope to have the mutual hotspot support for roaming travelers in place “sometime in the second quarter of 2013.”

They’re working on “SIM authentication technology to eliminate the need for customers to enter user IDs and passwords” when using these roaming wi-fi hotspots.
